The third major of the PGA season begins Thursday (or Wednesday at 10:30PM here on the West Coast) at the Royal Lytham & St. Annes in Lancashire, England and there is a familiar name favoured to win the event. Tiger Woods – a few weeks removed from winning his third event of the season.
Woods listed The Open Championship as “favourite major”, and for good reason: he is a three-time Open Championship winner – but he’s never lifted the Claret Jug at St. Annes. Lee Westwood is a close second choice to win the Open at 9/1, followed by Padraig Harrington (13/1), Rory Mcilroy (151) and Luke Donald (15/1). Phil Mickelson is 21/1 along with British golfer Justin Rose.
