STREAKING: Oakland’s wonder-rookie A.J. Griffin has been lights out, going 6-0 with a sub 2 ERA.
STREAKING
A.J. Griffin, Oakland Athletics (6-0, 1.94)
Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers (-162, 7.5)
Griffin improved to 6-0 on the season after tossing eight shutout innings against the Angels on Wednesday. The rookie has only allowed five homers over 65 innings of work and has picked up wins in each of his last three starts. He toes the rubber against the Tigers on Tuesday.
Yovani Gallardo, Milwaukee Brewers (15-8, 3.72)
Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates (+110, 7)
Gallardo only surrendered two runs over seven innings to pick up the win over the Braves in his last start. The righty has won seven consecutive decisions and eight of his last past nine outings have been quality starts. He looks to keep it going against the struggling Pirates next time out.
SLUMPING
Ricky Romero, Toronto Blue Jays (8-14, 5.87)
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees (-250, 9.5)
Romero allowed eight hits and three runs in four-plus innings before getting the hook against the Mariners last time out. The lefty dropped his 13th straight decision, tying him with Tom Underwood for the franchise record. Things won’t get easier for Romero as he draws the Yankees on today.
A.J. Burnett, Pittsburgh Pirates (15-7, 3.66)
Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates (+110, 7)
Burnett gave up two runs over six innings in a loss to the Reds last week. The right-hander hasn’t won since Aug. 16, a span of five starts. He takes the bump against the red-hot Brewers in his next outing.
