MLB: World Series Preview – Tigers vs Giants
by PlayNow Sports in mlb, poker

The Giants, after staging a second improbable comeback in the month of October, are entering the World Series as the underdog. The Detroit Tigers are rolling right now, and leading the charge is ace Justin Verlander, who has been almost unhittable all season long.

Game 1 goes tonight, with Verlander taking the mound against Barry Zito, who will once again look to turn the clock back with a quality start this October. Before I get to the Game 1 preview though, let’s take a look at the series as a whole.

MLB: World Series Odds – Tigers vs Giants
by PlayNow Sports in mlb, poker

The San Francisco Giants punched their ticket to the Fall Classic for a second time in three years with a dominate win over St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the NLCS Monday night.

The Giants, who won the World Series in 2010, will face the Detroit Tigers, a team that swept the AL’s top regular season team, the New York Yankees to win the American League Pennant and return to the World Series for the first time since 2006. This is the first time that these storied franchises will […]

MLB: NLCS Game 7 – Cardinals at Giants
by PlayNow Sports in mlb, poker

BY JEFF ANGUS

There is nothing quite like a Game 7. It doesn’t matter what sport – it does not get any better than two teams squaring off in a single game, winner-take-all grudge match. And with that in mind the Cardinals and Giants return to San Francisco for Game 7 tonight.

The Giants are making their elimination an impossible task for their opponents this postseason. They rallied from an 0-2 deficit in the NLDS against the Cincinnati Reds, and they are looking to become only the seventh team to […]

MLB: NLCS Game 5 – Giants at Cardinals

San Francisco Giants @ St. Louis Cardinals

San Francisco won three straight games against Cincinnati in the NLDS a little over a week ago, and they’ll need to do the same if they hope to stay alive against the Cardinals, trailing 3-1 in the NLCS.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright was dominant on Thursday night, while Giants starter Tim Lincecum was not. Lincecum has struggled with velocity and control issues for much of the 2012 calendar year, and last night’s game was no different.

The Cardinals managed to put eight runs […]

NLCS Game 4

In the NLCS, the Cardinals are looking to take a commanding 3-1 series with a win over Tim Lincecum and the Giants in Game 4. The Cardinals, powered by a strong performance from Kyle Lohse, defeated the Giants 3-1 last night.

San Francisco Giants @ St. Louis Cardinals (5pm PST)

Starting Pitchers: Tim Lincecum vs. Cardinals Adam Wainwright

The Analysis:

The Cardinals could be without the .414-hitting Carlos Beltran tonight. The slugger left Game 3 with a knee injury in the second inning, and his […]

MLB: ALCS Game 4 – Yankees at Tigers
by PlayNow Sports in mlb, poker

The Yankees and Tigers had their game from Wednesday pushed back to today due to rain. We are now lucky enough to get two baseball games that are separated by four hours (enough time to make a snack in between games). The Yankees saved their ace, CC Sabathia, for when they needed him the most – Game 4, facing elimination. Because of the one day delay, if the Yankees win the two teams will travel to New York and play Game 5 tomorrow. The quick turnaround has to favor the […]

ALCS preview Game 4: Yankees at Tigers

New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers (100, 7)

Tigers lead series 3-0

The New York Yankees turn to CC Sabathia as they attempt to stave off elimination and extend the American League Championship Series when they take on the Detroit Tigers in Game 4 at Comerica Park on Thursday. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but a band of strong showers forced Major League Baseball to postpone the game before it even began. The teams lose their travel […]

Series tied 1-1.

TV: 1 p.m., Sportsnet

The San Francisco Giants evened the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals at one
game apiece Monday, with the tone of the series changing dramatically after Matt Holliday’s hard slide into second
baseman Marco Scutaro in the first inning. Scutaro stayed in the game and hit a bases-clearing single in the fourth
inning before leaving in the fifth for X-rays on his left hip, which were negative. The aggressive slide appeared to
ignite the Giants, who […]

ALCS betting preview: Yankees at Tigers

Detroit lead series 2-0.

The Detroit Tigers are in perfect position to put a stranglehold on the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series as they send ace Justin Verlander to the mound Tuesday in Game 3 while owning a 2-0 series lead. Detroit posted a 6-4 victory in 12 innings in the series opener as Delmon Young collected three RBIs, including the game-winner. Young also notched the game-winning RBI in Game 2, but the story for the Tigers was Anibal […]

How much is Derek Jeter worth to the Yankees’ odds?

How much is Derek Jeter worth to the Yankees’ odds?

It takes a lot to quiet the raucous crowd in the Bronx, especially in October. But an uneasy hush fell over the Yankee Stadium faithful when shortstop Derek Jeter went down with a fractured ankle in Game 1 of the ALCS Saturday night.

Jeter, the Yankees leadoff hitter, is out for the remainder of the playoffs, leaving New York without its team captain and emotional leader. The Yankees fell 6-4 in extra innings to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 […]
